SPF(supported) DKIM(recommended)
This article covers the SPF and DKIM authentication processes for Marquis Documatix and how they are managed in Valimail Enforce. While only one of the two authentication methods is required for an email to pass DMARC, our recommendation is to configure both whenever possible.
Marquis Documatix uses a set of 2 CNAME DKIM keys and a dedicated subdomain configuration setup.

Setup a dedicated subdomain
In order for Marquis Documatix to send emails using your domain name, we will need to have a sub-domain
created, e.g., ‘email’ (email.yourdomain.com). IT and marketing will most likely coordinate with
each other to determine a sub-domain name. To set up a sub-domain, you will need to do the
following:
STEP 1: CREATE A CNAME FOR YOUR SUB-DOMAIN
The CNAME will brand your email “from” name, as well as all email links and images, while allowing
DocuMatix to report back about email deliverability and interaction. The CNAME will point your subdomain to the DocuMatix service. Create a CNAME for your external subdomain with the value of
documatix.com. Example below:
STEP #2: CREATE AN INTERNAL A RECORD FOR YOUR SUB-DOMAIN
If your internal DNS does not resolve the sub-domain record from the external DNS, you will need to
create an internal A record pointing to 206.71.80.80. This will allow images and links to work on emails that
are sent to email addresses with your domain. Important: ensure that you do not have an A record for
your sub-domain on your external DNS. An external A record would conflict with the CNAME.
AFTER SUB-DOMAIN CREATION
Once these steps are completed you will need to determine a username for each account that you have.
This will be your new “From” email address. For example, a general marketing account may have
‘marketing’ as the username (marketing@email.yourdomain. com). You will pick the username you would
like to use, but we will create it for you. Please note: The above steps are required in order for Marquis to
deliver emails on your behalf
Configuring DKIM authentication for your Marquis Documatix emails
If your organization has DMARC turned on for your emails, DKIM adds a digital signature to the email header which
is used to verify the authenticity of the email. If you have DMARC turned on, let a Marquis Client setup team
member know that you want to use DKIM. If you choose to add DMARC later, contact DocuMatix support to add
DKIM.
You will need to create two new sub-domains with the CNAME below:
key1._domainkey.email.yourdomain.com CNAME key1.documatix.com.
key2._domainkey.email.yourdomain.com CNAME key2.documatix.com.
In case you need more assistance in setting this up, you can contact Marquis Documatix customer support directly at dsupport@gomarquis.com

As you develop emails within DocuMatix, you can send tests to yourself. There may also be times
when you use DocuMatix for internal emails to be sent to your staff. In both cases, whitelisting will
ensure that the emails go through seamlessly. To help with email delivery inside your company it
is highly recommended that you Whitelist the DocuMatix IP Address Ranges and/or the below
DocuMatix Email Servers.
You need to make sure that you have the Marquis Documatix SPF IP range added in your SPF record.
Marquis Documatix SPF IP range - 206.71.80.64/27
By adding Marquis Documatix in your Enabled Senders list in Valimail, you would ensure the above whitelisting requirement is met.
The whitelisting procedure will vary, depending on your email service. Just provide this information to
your IT department and they will be able to accomplish this quite easily. In addition, it is recommended
that you whitelist your new “From” email address. Example: marketing@email.yourdomain.com
